Tumblr media
you knew it was wrong.
you knew it was against the jedi code and everything you stood for, but when you met her all of the code flew out of your mind and the only thing you could think of was her. the way her eyes shown bright with determination and passion for learning, the way she carried herself with confidence and the grace and poise in the way she walked. the way she looked at you for the first time, welcoming and friendly, and the way her hand stuck out to meet yours. the way her hand felt warm, enveloping your whole body in a sense of comfort.
you knew it was wrong, but that didn’t stop you.
her name was ahsoka tano, you learned from your master, the day you met her. it fit her well. she was beautiful. everything about her was. you were afraid your master would be able to tell that you liked her, but they never mentioned it to you.
but you still knew it was wrong.
you knew it was wrong when you stared into her eyes as she spoke to you. you knew it was wrong whenever she playfully bumped her hip against yours. you knew it was wrong when you were jealous of that politicians son, lux bonteri.
the way she looked at him was the same as the way you looked at her.
it made your chest tighten up and your fists clench at your sides, but you kept quiet. she never would love you, anyways. what was there to even say to her? you still would have her in your life even if she and that boy kissed, or even started dating. it would all still be the same.
except it wouldn’t.
ahsoka tano was not yours, and you understood that. you understood that when you saw her hand entwined with lux bonteri’s on onderon. you hated that, but you could never hate her for liking someone else. you never hated lux bonteri. he seemed like a genuine person, someone kind and loving. he was someone ahsoka deserved. she deserved better than you. he could offer her the life she deserved and you couldn’t.
ahsoka tano didn’t see the looks you gave her, the way your eyes would stare helplessly at her until someone would strike up a conversation with you. the way you hardly ever smiled around anyone else but her. she noticed none of it, and thought that you were just a really good friend. even after her quick romance with lux bonteri, she came to you for everything. you were her best friend, and she thought nothing more of it.
then she left the jedi order.
it was painful to see her leave and you wouldn’t deny it, but you had to move on, and so you did. over time, your feelings for the togruta began to fade.
and then she decided to come back.
she was taller now, montrals hanging over her shoulders and eyes still as fiery as ever. her smile was still kind and her personality still beautiful. seeing her brought back memories of the two of you, and now that you were older you realized that your feelings for ahsoka never really left. you just repressed them, pushed them into the back of your mind.
when she was gone, you spent a lot of time with her master, anakin skywalker. he was a wreck, she was only gone because of a crime she didn’t commit and now that she was back she was no longer a jedi.
she didn’t have to follow the code anymore, but you still did. you still couldn’t love her, no matter how much you wanted to. no matter how much your heart yearned for her, you could say nothing. you could do nothing to prove to her your love for her.
you could remember the vivid feeling of her arms wrapped around your shoulders when you came back from a mission with your master. the mission wasn’t too dangerous, just some simple conversations with the leader of a planet the republic wanted to add to its allies, but this was how ahsoka tano greeted you every time you came back. the tips of her fingers would graze the back of your neck, and you could feel chills run up your spine.
and then there was the way she would look at you.
she sits across from you now, lekku hanging over her shoulders and as she looks at you, you feel yourself want to disappear. she purses her lips, and takes in a deep breath. this would be the first conversation you would have alone since you were both young teenagers. “it’s been.. a long time.” you hear her mutter, and you nod. you can’t form words just yet. ahsoka stands up, and you notice how much taller she’d actually gotten. she was wasn’t taller than you as a child, but now your eyes stare at the tip of her nose. she sits down, next to you this time, and you can feel her gaze on you.
“what’s it like?” you let out after a few moments of sitting in an awkward silence. “what’s what like?” ahsoka asks, and you finally look up at her. she’s staring right into your eyes, and you feel yourself wanting to kiss her again. “not being a jedi anymore.” you say, and she shrugs. “weird.” she says after a moment, and you nod. it’s silent again after that.
“how was he? after i left?”
“hurting, but he was okay. he knew it was the best for you to leave.” you say. she’s talking about anakin, and from the corner of your eye you can see her nod, but only just. “and rex?” she asks. you turn to look at her again, and she looks deeply concerned. “rex was.. okay. the rest of your boys were too. they were upset, but they knew just like your master did.”
she’s pursing her lips again, but she says nothing. “did you know? you ask her. she looks confused, eyebrows furrowed together. “nothing.”
“no, what? what are you asking me?” her voice is determined, and you know you’re caught. this would be it, the rejection and the embarrassment. “did you ever see how i looked at you then, ahsoka?” you mutter, just loud enough for her to hear and you can see her freeze. she almost looks like she’s buffering, but she thinks.
she did notice the way you looked at her, but she thought it was nothing. the soft glances exchanged in training as kids, and the way your touch would linger on her skin as if it were the only thing in the galaxy that she wanted. she noticed the way you would smile at her, your eyes would crinkle upwards they would sparkle the way she loved them to.
but you never noticed the way she looked at you.
the way her eyes would always linger towards you and the way that rex would always point it out. the way that she would rest her head on the palm of her hand and admire you from the other side of a room and the way she’d be listening for your laugh. she loved the sound of it, and she loved everything about you.
did you really feel the same way about her?
she looks at you, slack jawed and wide eyed. she’s speechless, and you stand up. you extend your hand out to her, and she takes it after a brief moment of staring at it.
the familiar warmth of her hand in yours makes that comforting feeling explode in your chest and the way her eyes are pouring into yours makes you feel a bit dizzy, but you don’t let go of her hand. your other hand quickly finds hers, and you entwine your fingers together.
this wasn’t with lux bonteri. this time, she was holding onto your hand.
“and how were you..? when i left?” ahsoka manages to get out, and you sigh. “i was hurting really bad, soka. really bad.. but i pulled through. i spent a lot of time with your master after you left.. but we got through it, we knew what had to be done and you did it.”
“you’re courageous, ahsoka. you’re brave, you’re kind and you’re selfless.. and, god.. i don’t care about what the council says anymore.” you’re laughing, and she’s laughing, the two of you are pulling each other closer with every word you say. “and by the force, ahsoka tano.. i want you to be mine.” you finally say, and you can see a smile form on her face.
“i will.” your heart feels like its about to explode as she speaks, but you wrap your arms around her neck, and she pulls you close to her by your waist. you’re chest to chest and your face is buried into her neck. she’s warm, and she’s beautiful. you don’t care if you can’t see her face, you practically have all of her features ingrained into your brain.
and now she’s yours.
she pulls away from the hug and you can see her eyes dart from your eyes to your lips, and you start to laugh as she looks at you without any form of embarrassment showing up on her face. “what? can’t i stare at my girlfriend?” ahsoka says, and your heart speeds up at the use of the word ‘girlfriend’ coming from her mouth as she refers to you. “yeah, you can.” you say back to her.
her hands remove themselves from your hips, and they sit on your jawline. her thumbs run across your cheeks as she admires your features. you feel yourself starting to get shy as she admires you. its the way that she treats you as if you were a flower or a piece of glass, fragile, about to break in her arms if she weren’t careful enough. she holds your face in her hands and for a moment, it looks as if she were about to cry. she shakes her head, but she’s teary eyed. “what’s wrong?” you mumble, arms coming underneath hers to mirror the way she’s holding your face. the tips of your fingers trail across the white patterns across orange skin, and you feel yourself start to smile as you look at the beautiful girl in front of you.
“i.. im okay.” she stutters, but she has a smile on her lips. “me too, ahsoka.. i never.. thought you liked me like this..” you mutter, and she stares at you, her face now devoid of emotion. “are you serious? i thought i was so obvious.” she states, and you start laughing again. “it definitely wasn’t!” you’re saying through laughter, and she bursts into laughter after a few moments of trying to hold it in. the sound of your laughter is music to her ears, and the smile on her face never fades as she stares at you.
ahsoka, your ahsoka, is looking deep into your eyes, and you start laughing quietly. “why are you looking at me like that?” she rolls her eyes, “i just want to kiss my girlfriend, y/n, that’s all!” she jokes with you, but without missing a beat, you reply, “okay.”
and she’s frozen.
the two of you stand in each others arms, but she mutters, “really?” and you nod. you can almost feel your heartbeat pounding out of your chest as her gaze flickers from your eyes to your lips. “please, you don’t know how long i’ve been waiting for this.” you say, and that’s all she needs to hear before her lips are on yours.
you feel your breath catch in your throat, because her lips are on yours and she’s warm, and her eyes are closed and you’re standing there in shock even though you knew it was coming. you still thought this could’ve been just a huge, elaborate prank. she’s really kissing you, and you finally come to your senses. your eyes close after a moment, and you lean into her touch. this was your first kiss, and you were sharing it with the woman of your dreams. you can feel her smile against your lips, and you start to wonder what she’s thinking as her hands gently move to the back of your neck, fingertips running over the bare skin that you had been so used to before.
the chills.
and then she pulls away for a breath, but by the time you could say anything, she’s kissing you again. you couldn’t complain, you wouldn’t. ahsoka’s hands are warm and so are her lips, and they’re gently moving against yours. your hands gently move from her jaw to her waist where you pull her closer to you, if it were even possible, and you hear her sigh.
she pulls away again, and you’re half expecting her to kiss you again. you wouldn’t mind, but instead her hand finds yours and she holds your entwined hands out in front of you. “i could get used to this.” she chimes, and you smile, pulling her into you again.
finally, being kicked out of the jedi order was in the back of your mind. you knew about anakin and padme being married, why would this be any different? you loved ahsoka, your girlfriend, and if you had to leave the order to be with her then so be it.
it was the way she caresses your hand that pulls you out of your thoughts.
“the.. council-” she says. she sounds upset, but you shake your head and put your finger over her lips before she could say anymore. “-is the least of my worries, right now. i have you here, with me. if you say the word, i’d leave the jedi order.”
and it was the way you aren’t lying, and she can see it in the way you look at her.
and the way your lips press to hers again.

“Ten, you can rest. The park is going to close soon anyway.”
Ten nodded at the guy, removing his bunny ears head band. “Thanks, Taeyong hyung.”
Taeyong chuckled, cleaning the counter. Ten took a seat, wiping off his sweat. He then looked up at the sky, smiling as he sees the beautiful color of the evening sky.
“Such a busy day, eh?” Taeyong suddenly said, initiating a conversation. Ten nodded, eyes still glued on the amazing sky. “its nothing compared to the end of the year, though.”
Taeyong chuckled, agreeing with his statements. Silence filled the atmosphere and Ten used the opportunity to look around the park. It was getting dark, but still bright enough to see people’s faces from meters away. The park was getting empty, except for a couple small groups of visitors left. From a distance, he could see his friends cleaning up their counters, ready to head home. He then saw one of his friends Mark, heading to the locker room. He immediately stood up, bidding his goodbyes to Taeyong.
He ran after Mark, but quickly stopped when he spotted an unfamiliar figure from the corner of his eyes. He tilted his head in confusion when he saw a girl sitting on one of the benches, because he didn’t recognize her at all.
“Must be a visitor. Maybe she’s lost.” He mumbled to himself, quickly walking towards the bench.
“Excuse me, ma’am. But the park is going to close soon! Is there anything that i could help?” Ten said in a cheerful voice, a smile lingering on his face. You immediately looked up at the unfamiliar voice and sighed. “Right, I’m sorry. I’ll go now.”
Ten’s heart skipped a beat as he took a closer look at your face, and he found himself speechless for a few milliseconds. He quickly noticed other things, and his eyes immediately widened as he saw your teary eyes. He then took a seat next to you. “Are you okay? What happened?”
You shook your head slowly, more tears threatening to fall down. “Its nothing. I should go now.”
You were surprised when your hand was pulled back, forcing you to stay still in your seat. His grip weakened, but his hand stayed there. “No one leaves the park with tears in their eyes. You can tell me what happened.”
The tone that he used was soft and gentle, and it melted you instantly. You sighed, running a hand through your hair. “Do you really want to know what happened?”
“Yes.” He answered sternly. You looked up at the tone that he used and just now realized that the guy in front of you was drop dead gorgeous.
“Oh wow.”
For a moment there you forgot that he was waiting for you to talk. You quickly realized and mentally face palmed yourself. “I’m sorry i got a little bit distracted.”
The guy laughed, revealing a set of pearly white teeth. It made him even more charming than he already was. “Its okay. I’m Ten, by the way. So, mind telling me why you’re crying alone in the middle of a closed amusement park?”
“Wait its closed???” You frantically looked around, now realizing the lack of people in the park. Ten chuckled and shrugged. “It is going to be in around 15 minutes.”
You slumped in your seat, your gaze lithering. “I am pathetic.”
“No, you’re not.” Ten immediately argued, shaking his head. You closed your eyes and sighed. “I am. I’m crying alone in a middle of a closed amusement park, just like you said.”
“That doesn’t mean that you’re pathetic.” He said. You opened your eyes again and raised your eyebrow at him. “Say that again.”
Ten contemplated for a few seconds before raising both of his hands in defense. “Okay maybe just a little bit.”
“I knew it.” You mumbled, eyes staring at the distance. Ten shifted in his seat, leaning closer to you. “But that doesn’t mean that you’ll be like this forever, right?”
You stayed quiet, unable to argue. You slowly nodded, your lips curving downwards into a frown. Ten noticed this and bit his lips, trying to think of anything to make you happy. But it was proven to be hard, as the only thing that crossed his mind was talking it out.
“You could tell me, if you want.” He said in a small voice, noticing that your mood isn’t getting better. You nodded, but your eyes weren’t focused.
“But promise me you won’t laugh.” You whispered, almost inaudible. Ten nodded instantly, scooting closer. “I promise i won’t laugh.”
You looked up at his eyes and saw nothing but sincerity in his eyes, so you took a deep breath before slowly telling him your problem. “it might sound stupid… but there’s this guy that i’ve liked for a while. He’s in the basketball team and he’s pretty popular with the ladies…”
“Okay, do you know the guy personally?” Ten asked carefully, his tone serious. You shook your head, ashamed. “I don’t, unfortunately. From what i’ve heard, he’s pretty nice. But that’s all i’ve heard.”
Ten nodded, noticing that the sky is getting darker as you speak. But he stayed quiet, not wanting to disturb you. “Okay, and then?”
“Last week, he suddenly started talking to me. I was so happy at that time, because i thought he doesn’t even know that i exist, but apparently he does. From our conversations, he seems very nice so i didn’t suspect a thing. But i guess he’s just very good at lying.”
Ten gulped as he digested your words, mentally preparing himself for the rest of your stories. “Then?…”
“a few days later, he asked me to go on a date with him. I was very happy, i jumped around like a child, i even accidentally broke my lamp.” You chuckled bitterly. “He told me to meet him here, at around 10 AM. Today i woke up at 5 AM, i spent 2 hours trying to find the perfect outfit, 2 hours to do my make up and my hair, and in total i spent 4 hours just to look nice for him. But you know what?”
“………He didn’t show up?” Ten answered in a small voice, unsure. You shook your head, a bitter smile on your face. “I wish.”
“He showed up at 2 PM, He laughed at my face and told me that it’s a bet. A fuckin’ bet. And even worse, he brought all of his friends to watch the whole thing. I don’t think i can show my face around anymore.” Your eyes watered in humiliation as you recalled the incident. Ten could feel his heart broke as he heard your story, wanting nothing but to smash the guy’s face into the ground. He immediately wrapped his arms around you, catching you off guard.
“I’m sorry that you have to go through that. You don’t deserve to be treated like that.” He said, tightening his arms around you. Your tears fell down as you heard his words, unable to contain the pain. You ended up crying in his arms, burying your face in his chest. Ten didn’t show any sign of discomfort, and you were thankful for that. After a few minutes, you actually felt better and the tears started to stop, and you started to come to your senses. You quickly realized that you were practically clinging to a guy that you barely know.
“I-I’m sorry I didn’t mean to..” You said, slowly pulling away from his embrace. There was a noticeable damp spot on his shirt, and you scrunched up your face in embarrassment. “I’m really really sorry….”
Ten looked down at this shirt and shook his head. “Its okay, its nothing.”
You nodded slowly and stayed quiet, not knowing what to do. Ten then brushed a strand of hair from your cheek, his fingers accidentally touching your face. You looked up at him and immediately looked down, trying to hide your blushing cheeks.
“Do you feel better now?” He asked gently, his gaze was soft. You really felt better, and you didn’t know whether it was because of his words, or just him in general. You slowly nodded, still trying to hide your face. “T-Thank you… and I’m really sorry for..for earlier..”
Ten caressed your cheeks gently, a genuine smile decorating his face. “Its alright. Its the least i can do to make things better.”
You shook your head, not agreeing with his words. “With you being here next to me, i feel better already.”
He was silent and you quickly realized the meaning of your words. The blood started to rush to your cheeks as your eyes widened. “I-I didn’t mean it like that! I’m-“
Your words were cut off by his chuckles, his voice sounded like heaven for your ears. Ten’s lips curved into a smile, pulling you into a quick hug. He then pulled away and his smile turned sour.
“You’re beautiful and you’re very cute, i don’t get why people hurt you.” He sighed, his thumbs drawing little circles on your hands. You looked away, feeling the blood rushing to your cheeks once again. “I’m not.”
“Yes you are.” He stubbornly said, gently turning you to face him. He smiled when he saw your pink cheeks, glad that he wasn’t the only one with blushing cheeks.
“Hey, do you have plans after this?” He suddenly asked, bringing you back from your trance. You shook your head, not having any clue about his intention.
“Great!” He cheerfully said, pulling you to stand up with him. You stood up, confused by his sudden action. “What are you doing?”
Ten started walking, his hand laced with yours. He then looked back at you and smiled. “Let’s go on a date.”
Your eyes widened as you repeated his words in your mind, still not believing his words. “D-Date?”
Ten stopped walking, realizing that you haven’t moved an inch. He chuckled and ruffled your hair. “Yes, A date.”
“You don’t have to do this, Ten.” You said, shaking your head. You appreciated his effort to make up for the date. But this wasn’t his fault, and he had nothing to do with this.
Ten shook his head, stepping closer. He stared at you for a few seconds before chuckling. You could see a subtle pink hue on his cheeks, but you weren’t sure if you were seeing things right.
“I want to. You deserve nothing but the best, and judging from the people around us, I’m pretty much the best you could find.” He said, a wide smile hanging on his lips. You let out a laugh as you looked around the empty park, playfully hitting his arms. “There’s no one around us!”
“That’s the point!” He replied cheerfully, laughing when you attempt to hit him once more. His laughter died down, along with yours. He then grinned and tugged your hand, which was still intertwined with his.
“Shall we get going?”
With a wide smile on your face, you squeezed his fingers.
“Let’s go.”

Oh, we are so close to the end. Time for one to admit its feelings?
Chapter Sixteen
When Lacey French arrived home that night, she was feeling completely destroyed by everything thing that had happened during the day. She sighed deeply when the door closed behind her and quickly went upstairs where she took a bath, pulled on the most comfortable pyjamas she had and sat on the bed for a long time, brushing her hair until she was sure that her curls were not messy. Lacey considered leaving her bedroom to get something to eat in the kitchen, since she was starving, but she felt that her heart already had its share of pain for a day. It was better if she stayed right where she was and not chance running into Gold and starting another argument.
Curling herself up in bed, she pulled the bedcovers close, switched off the lamp and closed her eyes, falling into a deep sleep with the last sound of her stomach protesting its emptiness and the baby turning around, for the first time in weeks getting into a position that was nearly comfortable for her.
The next morning, Lacey woke up to the feeling that something bad was about to happen and not just bad as the last day had been, but even worse. She wasn’t the kind of person that would get obsessed with sudden strange feelings, but something deep inside her said that she should be worrying about this, at least once. The girl, however ignored it completely as she started to get ready for work, only giving herself some moments of procrastination, before her hunger finally forced her to go to the kitchen.
Baden Gold was hanging around the stairs, his backpack left aside on the corridor. When he saw her, he almost jumped with joy, coming to hug her legs and she gave him the first genuine smile she had managed to make ever since her argument with his father. She swooped him up, which brought tears to her eyes, because her back ached as hell and the baby started to kick madly at where its half-brother was wrapped around her.
"How was your weekend?" Lacey asked Bae, moving as fast as she could, to sit by the breakfast table with him on her lap, almost falling for the lack of space.
Unlike most days, Adam wasn’t in the kitchen, although some cereal boxes where left on the breakfast table alongside with the milk.
"Not that great," Baden shrugged. "Mama spends most of her time whispering bad things to her husband."
Was she impressed by those words? No. Did she wanted to punch Milah even more for neglecting her own son? Hell yes. Lacey wished to know what was that sick woman’s problem and why on earth would she want to be given Bae’s custody when she didn’t even care for him during the wispy weekends she spent with him. Milah must hate Adam more than anything in this world, otherwise Lacey doubted she would ever ask to have more time with the boy, but knowing that Bae was his father’s whole world, she was using him to hurt Adam in the worse way she could.
"What kind of bad things?" The brunette questioned, smoothing his hair.
Baden moved uncomfortably in her lap, avoiding her gaze. "Just about you and papa."
"Oh," Lacey muttered.
And no, she wasn’t surprised by that too. She only hoped that the things Milah said about them in front of a five-year-old wasn’t as bad she imagined them to be, for Baden’s own sake.
"That's ok," the little boy said with a tiny grin. "I still like you."
"I like you too, Bae, very much."
He threw his arms around her the best way he could with her huge belly between them, but Lacey appreciated the clumsy hug anyway. She was very fond of that boy and she wasn’t the kind of person who randomly likes other people’s children. Lacey had enjoyed Bae’s company right from the very start and if she could pick one person to protect at all costs in this world, this person would be Baden Gold. Him and of course her baby girl, which was now kicking at him, claiming some space.
"She likes to kick," Baden said, departing from her and slipping to the floor.
"She is being a bad girl today," Lacey answered with a small laugh, standing up too and heading to the refrigerator. "Do you want a sandwich? I'm starving."
"No, I’ve already eaten," he smiled, shaking his head. "I'd better go brush my teeth and get ready to school before papa comes."
"Alright."
Lacey turned back to the refrigerator, opening its door and taking a good look inside before picking all the ingredients she wanted and placing them on the counter, she made herself a sandwich and ate it, before eying the drawer where Gold kept the spoons and took one from inside, grabbing the peanut butter jar as she licked her lips.
"Hey," Adam’s voice said from the kitchen’s entryway.
She didn’t turn around, only sank the spoon in the peanut butter before lifting it to her mouth, ignoring him completely. Adam walked towards her silently, deciding to make amends for their last argument.
"I'm sorry for what I said yesterday,” he muttered, “I was angry at Milah, I shouldn't have thrown this at you."
Still, she wasn't willing to look at his face just yet.
"Yeah," Lacey mumbled, licking the spoon clean, "you shouldn't."
Adam snorted, swiping his arms around her waist, hands cupping each sides of her belly as he pressed a long kiss to the top of her head. She leaned almost involuntarily into his touch, dropping the spoon inside the jar, Lacey laid her head on his shoulder, feeling the top of his nose caress the skin of her forehead and suddenly there wasn't any other place she wished to be at that moment. He was home, as much as she hated him sometimes, his arms were the place that made her feel safe.
"Do you forgive me?" Gold asked softly.
Unable to give him a straight answer, because she was still too stubborn to give in that way, Lacey limited herself to giggling and lifted the spoon to her mouth once again, saying: "I'm going to eat all your peanut butter."
"It is no matter," he returned, enjoying the view of her, delighting herself with something tasty.
He had considered not telling her about his conversation with Cora, because he knew that the last thing she needed was another thing in her already pretty confused mind, but he was feeling so broken with the possibility of losing his son, that all Gold wanted was to be comforted. Of course, he also knew that Lacey wasn’t the kind of person that would offer herself to soothe the other with beautiful words, but it was the concern in the deep irises of her gorgeous blue eyes, that would make his heart feel lighter, so he started to speak.
"I've been to Milah's lawyer's office today," Adam admitted with a long, frustrated sigh. "She is playing with me."
"What do you mean?" Lacey inquired pulling away from him and turning around so she could stare right at his face.
"She wants you out of my life. Cora, the lawyer, said that if I let you go, Milah will stop all of this," he explained. "The only reason why she wants Baden's guardship is because she wants to force me to get rid of you, because she knows that this will make me unhappy."
"Understood," she said with a bitter laugh, dropping her glance to the counter as she placed the peanut butter jar on top of it. "I'm leaving tomorrow."
Lacey knew that she should have seen it coming. There was no other reason for Milah to make this whole storm in Gold’s life than to harm her and make her pay for that first night in the bar, a night that could have happened yesterday or three hundred years ago. A night that changed everything.
But now the bitch had made her final move and she was going to win that game as easily as none of them could have predicted.
"No, you won't,” Gold insisted, stepping forward to cup Lacey’s shoulders. “I told her that I will fight for my son as much as I will fight for my daughter."
"Adam you're being stupid," Lacey cried, sounding weak and pathetic even for herself. "I can disappear, and you can come to pick up the baby when she is born, then our story will be over."
"No,” he shook his head and for the first time, he was utterly and completely truthful with her about his feelings: “Lacey, I love you! I want you to stay."
Her mouth fell open in a perfect “o” shape, her heart raced like a speeding car and she stared at him for too long, because she couldn’t find the strength in herself to say those words back to him.
"Adam..."
She was speechless, but he knew very well that he wasn’t getting an answer back just now, so he grabbed her by the waist and kissed her eagerly, smashing her lips with his and making Lacey feel breathless. Tears came to her eyes as she gave all she had into that kiss, because in the back of her mind a perfect plan was being formed in order to save Adam from his own idiocy that would end up shattering him, when he eventually lost Bae to his ex-fiancée.
After some moments wrapped in her arms, Gold pulled away to look down at her with all the love he had, caressing her hair gently. "We'll be running late if we don't go just now."
"Just a minute and I'll be ready," Lacey said, putting on a fake smile as she went to the entryway to grab her purse, looking over her shoulder to tell him: "Oh, and Ruby will pick me up at the library today, so you don't need to go there after work."
"Alright then," he said, waving a hand to call for Baden who was in the living room, so they could go. "I will see you tonight."
They followed Gold outside, settling themselves in his car, Lacey quickly typing a text message on her phone in her desperation to get things over as soon as she could. She sighed, fighting with the despair that was bursting out of her chest. She wasn't even willing to accompany Adam outside when they stopped in front of the school to drop off Baden. Lacey stayed there, teary-eyed watching as the little boy got out of the car with his colourful backpack hanging from one of his shoulders and expected him to walk away quickly, but Bae came to the front of the passenger's door and opened it, throwing his arms around her and pressing the sweetest kiss to her cheek.
"Bye Lacey!" He said cheerfully.
"Goodbye my sweet, sweet boy," she answered stupefied, kissing the top of his head under Gold's lovely glance, before letting Bae go, taking his father's hand and heading inside the school.
Closing the car's door, she leaned against the seat, chest raising and falling painfully fast. Her cell-phone beeped and she eyed Ruby's text, which informed her that she would be in the library in less than half an hour and then, she could put her plan into action.
Less than an hour after Adam had left her in the library, Lacey was ready to leave. She had already rented an apartment in Seattle with the intention of moving as soon as the baby was born, but Lacey was going to need it sooner than she had expected. Everything had been done in secret, she found the place and made all payments on the internet, using her debt card and Ruby was the only one who knew about what she had planned, helping her by getting out of the city to buy some furniture and put it inside the small flat.
Lacey knew that she would only find a bed and a refrigerator in there, but she could manage to get more things later, in an attempt to make it look like a home. For now, what she truly needed was to get away from Storybrooke, forget about Bunny's threats and let Gold have his son. It was for both his sake and Baden's, because she was pretty sure that they would suffer a lot being separated and Bae would probably be the most harmed in this whole situation, because he would end up with a mother that didn't care about him. She couldn't have this blame on herself.
"Are you sure of what you're going to do?" Jasmine asked for what seemed to be tenth time that morning.
Snorting totally frustrated, Lacey threw some more of her things inside the large purse, getting everything she could from the little locker she had at the back of the circulation desk.
"Jasmine, I don't need your opinion about this," she said, harshly, "just assure me that you'll handle the library."
"I will, but I'm worried about you," the other girl muttered a little unsure. "I know that you might not consider me as your friend, but I do. You're the only one I get to talk to, ever since I moved to this town."
Turning around to face her, Lacey dropped the purse onto the chair a mocking laugh leaving her throat.
"Geez, you need friends, but alright, come here, I'll miss you."
Clumsily hugging Jasmine, Lacey thought that she might yet consider her a good friend and she would certainly miss having her as an assistant to do all the work she didn't like. They had shared good moments inside that library and Jasmine was as engaged in her life now as Ruby was and maybe, Lacey considered, she was just the bad bitch that was mean to everybody. Precious were the ones that wanted to be her friends.
"It's Ruby," Jasmine said, when she looked up at the windows and saw the red car parking outside.
Pulling away from her, the blue-eyed girl took a long breath, grabbed her purse and went outside with Jasmine following her. Ruby was playing with the keys while absent-mindedly kicking the ground with the tip of her boots, but she threw them to Lacey the moment she got out of the library.
"Hey, beauty," Ruby greeted her, "please do not harm my car, huh?"
"You can get it back from me next month, ok?" Lacey smiled, walking towards her. "I just need it until this little one is born."
She knew that she was asking too much from Ruby and Lacey had been planning to buy a car for herself before she went to Seattle, but Bunny got all the money he could from her and left her with just enough to pay for the advanced rent. Almost unconsciously, she rubbed circles on the side of her swollen belly, feeling one of the baby's feet insistently pressed there.
"We've know each other since we were kids. I would give you the damn car how many times you need it," Ruby shrugged.
"Thanks."
Opening her arms, Ruby enlaced Lacey in a tight hug. "Promise you'll call when you arrive in Seattle?"
"Promise."
Departing from her oldest friend, Lacey went to the driver's seat, opening the windows as she settled herself inside, seeing Jasmine and Ruby standing next to each other in front of the place that she had considered her home for so long.
"Take care, you two," she shouted out. "And keep me up with the news about Gold and Bae."
"Lacey!" Jasmine yelled back when she turned the car on.
"Yeah?"
"Be safe," the girl pleaded.
Nodding, Lacey started to drive away. Now things would be easier, because she already had the car and the flat, she just needed to stop by at Gold's place to pack all of her things before taking the road to Seattle.
Nobody would be at the salmon house until the end of the afternoon, when Helga Potts would bring Baden home from school, so when she arrived, Lacey went straight to her bedroom, getting her suitcase and filling it with her clothes and shoes. She had bought a huge backpack a while ago and used it to put in books and some things she kept on her nightstand. Lacey was almost done when she opened the last drawer and found all the things related to the baby she had been keeping; the little purple dress, the sonograms, the namesake book she had borrowed from the library and now had no intention of returning.
Biting down on her bottom lip, Lacey picked up all those items and placed them with care on top of the books, closing the zipper and looking around the bedroom where she has slept for the last six months and realising that she couldn't just go away without being true to Adam as he was with her that very morning.
Lacey grabbed her things, took them to the car and went to his study. She found paper and a pen, then she sat by the same desk where he had pleasured her and wrote him a letter.
My dear Adam,
The last time I wrote a letter I was probably in Middle School, but I can't find a way to tell you everything I need, without warning you of what I'm about to do. Please do not look for me, that's my first request, I'll be calling you as soon as I go into labour, so you can come cash your debt and get the child.
It will be better for you all, I can guarantee, but I need to say this, since I didn't find courage enough to do it when I should've. I love you Adam, I was afraid of loving you, but damn it, I do, with all my heart. My second request is that you tell our daughter, that her mother loved her very well too but the threats that came into her life made it impossible for her to be by her side forever. If you wish so, you can say to Bae that I’ll miss him every single day and that I’ll never forget him, because that’s the truth.
I may not want to, but I’ll carry you all in my heart forever.
And Adam, my life changed because of you. That day at the bar, when we both were so lost, you brought me back from the darkness in which I was living for too long and even if I still get to fight against the worst side of myself at every new morning, I know that I’m a better person ever since I met you.
I would be completely happy to know that you’ve accepted yourself that we cannot be just good or bad, that we are both things at different times and you, my dear, are not the horrible man you believe yourself to be. Difficult? Maybe. Horrible? Never.
You are amazing, an amazing lawyer, an amazing father and a wonderful lover. I just wish I had more time to work with my own issues to get to say it to you instead of cowardly writing it, but well, at least now you know.
Always your greatest admirer, Lacey.
A tear ran from her eye and fell down onto the paper, staining the word “always” and making it blurry, but she placed a paperweight above it and stood up. Lacey didn’t want to leave and she managed to procrastinate until the sun was almost setting and she was sure that if she didn’t leave immediately, then Baden would arrive and everything would be lost.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE JIMIN+12 NIT THIRTEEN AHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA IM SORRY
A/N:  hahahahahaha, s’okay mate :D Sorry I took so So sO  so so SO long to complete this but it’s finally here! Also, I kind of made it a bigger art studio :P
Tumblr media
#12: You’re a lesser known artist and I’m hanging out at a small art studio in the city and you catch me staring in awe at your work.
Staring is probably the most idioticthing to do right now. But hey. It’s okay if it’s exquisite art. But you can’tdecide which is the true art, the swirling paint on the canvas, or the one thatbrings it into the world.
The exhibition had ended about anhour ago, and you’d left an hour ago, and almost got back home, but came allthe way back because you’d only then remembered about your scarf- which youwere not forsaking at any cost. Once back, you immediately made your way to thereception desk, but alas, no one was to be found. Which meant, according toyou, that you were permitted to peruse.
You had a vague recollection oftaking the scarf off and leaving it on a spindly chair in the hall beforemoving to browse the aisles of artworks and installations, so you directed yourfootsteps to once again follow the arrows towards the audience hall.
That didn’t exactly go as perplanned. You found the hall easily enough, but a way in? Not that easy. Atleast without a key card and an old brass key - judging by the antique lockhanging from the bay doors.
You were battling between the choiceof abandoning your beloved scarf or finding another, sneakier way in when youfirst noticed the faint notes of a melody. Viola, perhaps? No, somethingdeeper, cello? You couldn’t help but quietly seek the melody.
As you sneaked as silently aspossible through the hallways, which were getting narrower and narrower, thesong got a lot louder. A lot louder than the first few strains you’d heard. Andit seemed to be emerging from the wooden closet door at the end of the hallway.
It was not a closet.
Stark overhead lighting immediatelypierced your eyes, but you sure are glad you opened your eyes instead oflooking away. The first thing or things, were the canvases of various sizesstrewn all over the room, and mainly the one on the easel in the centre of itall. It was majorly empty, but the few strokes on it captured your attention. Was it a chameleon? Or a …bird? It was difficult to judge.
The attention was short lived though. You caught motion at the corner of your vision and your glance shifted to the manswaying in front of the canvas. At first you thought he was drunk off his assand then noticed what he was holding. He had a battered palette in one hand anda paintbrush in the other.
He continued to move with the musicand added a few more lines of colour. Of course, the canvas probably only a bitwider than a foot, but with his work, it seemed endless. There didn’t seem tobe a definite sketch. It was all very abstract. Yet you were able to pick out aprimary subject in the mess. That’s all you could understand. What it was hewas painting was all but a mystery.
The man paused dancing for a moment(if one could even call it that) and you finally got a good look at him. Andyou realized you already knew who he was. Park Jimin, Jeon Changhyun’s assistant. He was at the exhibition, welcoming the guests and guiding themthrough the space. He spoke with you for quite a while too. And you had to say, you were quite encorselled.
Yet he hadn’t  formally introduced himself with the artists themselves, but later on at the luncheon.
He made quite an impression with the crowd. Helooked like a fresh drop of dew among all the aged leaves of artists, andeverybody noticed. They were quick to ask names and ages, but never actuallygot to work and business cards.
That might help later on, but fornow, you assume, he has as much respect in this world as you do. And this wasyour second art gala. Looking at his handiwork, it didn’t make sense, but youknew how much it took to make a name in this industry. To be honest, it’s worsethan film.
You’d been puzzling all of this outin your head for so long, that you didn’t notice that the painting wascompleted. You let out an involuntary gasp, it was a bird. It seemed familiar, but you were no ornithologist.
“Do you like it?” That same honeyedvoice that greeted you at the entrance a few hours ago was directed towards youyet again.
“Uhh, yeah. Yes! I don’t recognizethe bird though.” You’re just hoping he wasn’t too irked at your uninvitedpresence, and threw on your best smile. Not that you needed to force it.
“It’s not specific. But, truly? Whatdo you think it means?” So it’s a test.
You took a slow step forward, andwaited for a response. After receiving a small but sure nod from him, you makeyour way through the mess of supplies and pieces.
At closer observation, the colourslooked altogether different. What you perceived as a deep crimson now appearedpurple. The bird wasn’t placed at the centre, but it still won attentions quiteeasily. A partial cityscape made up the background. The foreground was the birditself, and a mess of what appeared to be wires.
“It’s a nest. Of wires?” Your voicesounded small and uncertain. You really didn’t want to wrongly perceive what hewanted to express. That would be one of the worst insults to an artist.
Fortunately, he smiled.
“It’s wing is stuck. It wants toleave but it’s being stopped, by someone in its home. It wants to leave it allbehind, spread its wings and just fly.  Maybe it’s reached its limit. So it wants anescape. It wants to soar above the oceans until it reaches a place which willnever remind it of what it’s left behind.” Your voice cracked a little at theend. What can you blame though? The artwork had the ability to render peoplespeechless and teary eyed.
“That was beautiful.” His eyes weretrained on you the entire time you spoke. He seemed genuinely grateful. “Thankyou.”
A sigh of relief coursed through you.You passed the test set forth by this striking man you met only today. Why didit feel like such a victory?  “I got itright? I was afraid I’d accidentally insult you, or something.”
“No, no.” His moved smile shiftedinto one of ambiguous origin. He’s “There’s no right or wrong to it.  Art is art. What it means to you can beentirely different to someone else. Or the same. You were quite close to myprimary proposition, though.”
“Oh? Might I ask what it is thatmesmeric mind was brewing?”  You didn’tknow what made you say that. You didn’t know if it was the atmosphere – themessy studio, the music continuing to play, his faint cologne – or simply thelook he was giving you, leaning on the table behind him, arms folded across hischest. Whatever it was, you were sure you were stepping way out of line withthe smirk and the question asked with a finger to your lip.
With a push and a step, he wasstanding right beside you.
“Rather than something holding it back, it’skeeping itself there. It has responsibilities it cannot abandon. It’s stayinghalfway in both worlds; to fulfil its duties while keeping its goal in sight.  Let’s put it this way, it’s scared of whatwill happen when it finally leaves the realm of comfort. It stays, contemplating the risks and rewards of making its place in the world. Maybeit’ll stay small and hidden forever - a shadow. Or it’ll finally spread itswings and carve an eternal mark on the world.”
“Now that, was beautiful.” You tentatively reached to clasp his hand inyours, which caused him to lift his downturned head. You could see yourreflection in his eyes and so much more.He was ready to spread his wings and soar. “You can do it. You’ll hurt yourself at some point. But you’ll remainetched deeply in everyone, Jimin. I only met you today, but I know you can and will rise. Don’t be scared.”
He squeezed your palm once and let itgo. “And you too. You’ll find a life far from whatever you want to escape.” Hecautiously ran a hand through his hair, “And I would certainly love to be apart of it.”
“I’d certainly love that too.”
The scarf was left forsaken.
+ Ahhhhh! I actually posted something after a million years. lolololol. I really hope you like it Unna~ And I apologize for making it sound very formal(ish?). It’s probs because I’ve been reading science reports for so long ;_:  +
